1. ARRIVAL - THE PLANET

You might be eating dinner, reading a book, even walking your dog or trying to sleep. Whatever you’re currently involved in, you’re suddenly pulled out of it when a mysterious portal opens around you. Now you’re falling ... falling ...

Where do you land? It could be anywhere—the top of a tree, the back of a chocobo, even out in the ocean. Or maybe you actually have a relatively normal landing in Edge, the Midgar ruins, Kalm, or somewhere else in the surrounding area, such as the wastelands or the meadow, the latter of which has a few homes standing. Some are abandoned, but at least one is occupied.

One thing is for sure—you’re not home anymore. As to where you actually are, well, you’ll have to find that out when you’re found or rescued. (Do you need to be rescued?) Be careful if you land on a chocobo. The surprised bird will very likely bolt! I'd figure out where you are before night falls.

2. ARRIVAL - 7th HEAVEN
You've been directed to a hotel called 7th Heaven, it's part of Edge, near the ruins of Midgar. When you come across the hotel, you'll notice it's grand. It's quite big, and has several floors. It's building however is a bit crumbled and you can see a woman sweeping off the steps leading up and into the hotel. She asks you if you're from the portals and you respond yes, she invites you inside to get a room, something to eat and to get acquainted with the other hotel guests.

She leads you inside, gives you your room assignment and asks if anyone showed up with you. You tell her no and she takes you to the open breakfast bar. She doesn't ask how you arrived, it's likely she assumed. She introduces herself as Tifa Lockhart and let's you know that anytime you need anything, just ask around for her. There's no way for you head back home for now, you'll have to deal like everyone else. She then leaves you to your devices.

3. ARRIVAL - BALAMB GARDEN -
You're directed to Balamb Garden, where an old man is hunched over and asking you if you've arrived through the portals. He introduces himself as Cid Kramer, and ushers you inside it's walls. You ask if you can get a room here, he claims you can but you'll have to enroll in the school or instruct in something as per the rules. He doesn't have time to show you around right now, so he introduces you to someone else that can help.

You're greeted by a young woman with raven hair and a few brown streaks in her hair. She introduces herself as Rinoa, she takes you to the library for entertainment purposes and then guides you to the cafeteria so you can get something to eat but she doesn't have time to show you around right now, maybe later. She tells you she's sorry but right now there's no way to get you home or anyone else for that matter.

She tells you once you're done eating, come back to the front hall, and take the elevator up to the third floor. You can talk to Squall Leonhart if you want more answers, if he's in the office. She then gives you her number incase you need assistance. Then she's gone.

4. KD-KAIDA Station 999
"This is KD-KAIDA Station 999. Bringing you all those smooth jazz hits and rock ballads of yesteryear. This week we have letters pouring in from our listeners. Love letters, letters to the editor, political intrigue, even fan notes of yore."

There's a tssk and a task that sounds, then several jazzy beats. "You're on the air, ... tell us, who are you sending a love letter to, unless you'd like to do it at our forum."

[All characters are to write an in network post that is either a letter of some sort, it's either open to all or to a specific person. You must label your posts with Station 999 so people are able to respond if that's what you want.]

5. THE BEACHED MIND-JELLIES
Last night the stars glowed brightly, a portal opened and out spewed several hundred jelly fish that look quite strange. These creatures line the beach all over, near Edge and Balamb Garden. These jelly fish are emitting a funky smell and squirting a noxious liquid that shouldn't be touched. Anyome who comes in contact with the jelly fish might be stung, or get squirted one.

It's one of two things, if you get stung, you end up with a physical attribute that you didn't have before. Superstrength, fast reflexes, super speed, etc etc

If you end up ingesting or getting the liquid on your skin, you end up with a mental function you didn't have before; so pyrokinesis, telepathy, telekinesis, claudaince etc etc

These effects will last anywhere from a few minutes to a few months, depending on player preference for their characters!

"There's a lot more room left, I believe," he says. "It's a twelve-floor building."

He starts walking, staying alert for monsters.

Harry is genuinely amazed that 7th Heaven hasn’t become overcrowded by this point, especially considering the current portal situation this world is dealing with. The thoughts of finding a way back home are still in his mind, but right now, getting settled in his new housing situation is a big priority to attend to.

“Oh, so it is really tall and accommodate loads of people too. Sounds a lot better than having to live in a tent while on the run.”

"Yes, the proprietors are very kind. When this happened, they stepped right up to help by purchasing the hotel. They wanted everyone to be comfortable during such a jarring and upsetting experience."

“That is really kind of them to provide the new arrivals with a place to stay in. I wish that I could be able to thank them when we arrive at the hotel, maybe I can try to find a way to repay their kindness in return.”

"They are truly exceptional people," he says, staring off into the distance with a far-off, warm yet wistful smile.

Coming back to the present, he says, "They would appreciate any help you could offer. There's so much to do with so many new arrivals."

“Hm, perhaps there are some jobs or tasks in the area of the hotel that I can take up after I get settled in,” Harry notes, “Are there plenty of openings for new arrivals at the moment?”

"I believe there are," he nods. "Edge is still a city being built and there is always plenty to do."

[phoenixwiz]

“Wow. A city that is being built as we speak? Now there is so much to do to help it grow,” Harry replies, “I’m pretty sure that people will have a lot of things to contribute.”

"Yes, there are houses and buildings always in progress, and I've heard something about planting trees and perhaps making a city park. And many of the businesses already open could use extra workers."

[phoenixwiz]

“Hm, that would make for many great opportunities to lend a hand to help it to grow. There are so many to choose from. I might have to pick some as not to overwork myself too often. But I will try to take up many odd jobs to help the locals out as much as possible.”

"Yes, don't take on more than you can handle. The people would be grateful for whatever you can offer."

Nearby, a monster watched them but didn't try to attack.

"Do you have creatures like that back home?" he asked.

“Oh, there are plenty of creatures in various parts of my world, some more friendly than others,” Harry replies, “It is a world where magic thrives in secret after all, so there is bound to be plenty of them to encounter.”

"I see," Sephiroth muses. "How do you have magic in secret?" It's hard for him to imagine, given that magic is a way of life here. Although some would call it science instead.

[phoenixwiz]

“I hate to sound like a sour grape, but unfortunately in where I’m from, both normal people and people with magic had major prejudices against each other for centuries. People in there can be too stubborn and so set in their own ways to be convinced to change their ways and minds so easily or freely for that matter. And to make matters even worse, people with pure magical blood can get very mean over people they deem as not like them. So much of it based on this silly blood purity nonsense.”

As much as he hates saying it out loud to anybody who can listen, it was a reality for Harry have to deal with for seven long years but has, from time to time, rebelled against it much as a child turned teenager could. It was just only moments ago that a war rooted in such cruel nonsense had ended with him defeating the one man who tried to kill him for his entire life.

"Hm." Sephiroth listened, frowning. "Unfortunately, it would be hard to find a world free of prejudice. There is plenty here as well, not necessarily over magic, but over other things deemed unnatural."

Such as wings.

The young man nodded in response, many worlds have their own share of cruel souls who never want to open their hearts and minds to anyone and anything that is so different from what the status quo dictated. He too, in some form, had held some prejudices as well but that was when he was a naive young boy. That boy had been long gone by the end of the battle at Hogwarts and Voldemort’s reign of terror.

To learn that someone else had went through similar experiences in their world felt so much closer to home than he could imagine.

“Oh my, I’m really sorry to hear that.”

He nodded. "There have been people experimented on by cruel scientists and given extra attributes not normal for humans. They have been seen as monsters by many, even by themselves. It drove them out of their minds."

[phoenixwiz]

“Oh dear, that must be very hard for the people who got experimented on against their will. No one should be exposed to such cruel treatments and by scientists of cruel and cold natures. I may not be a scientist myself but even I’m quite horrified by that as well.”

Sephiroth nodded. "These experiments happened even before they were born. They were then born with strange powers and abilities, but some didn't manifest until adulthood."

He didn’t speak too much as he continues to hear Sephiroth’s talk. While it is true that there were no such thing as wizards getting experimented on in where he is from, the fact that people in Sephrioth’s world got badly treated long before they are even born through the experiments and some would have to deal with late power awakening very late in life is more than enough to make him nonetheless empathetic to their plight.

Soon enough he could see the hotel being much closer as they both walk towards it, wondering how he will start his new life in this world.

Sephiroth doesn’t identify himself as one of the experiments, but falls silent as well.

He looks up at the hotel. “Here it is. It’s a beautiful place. You should be able to find a comfortable room inside.”

The city is filled with people walking around. Some are in the hotel courtyard, admiring it.

“Oh gee, thank you so much,” Harry replies in return as he takes a good look at the hotel itself, “It sure looks really beautiful.”

He could see plenty of people walking around in the city and then at the people at the courtyard. The young man hopes to find his footing in the city and that also includes making friends in some form. Hopefully that will make his homesickness not as hard to carry around until they can find a way to bring the otherworlders back home safely.

He nods. "The interior is quite impressive. They've spared no expense fixing it up. I've tried to help where I could as well."

He felt he had to do whatever possible to help, given that this mess is his fault.
